Colleagues from academia, industry and healthcare met at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh to review advances in genome technology and informatics, and to discuss how genomic testing can be deployed in Scotland to optimise patient care for cancer and rare diseases.
With outstanding speakers from the NHS, academia, industry and the patient groups, the meeting reviewed and discussed the latest advances in genome sequencing technology, informatics and their clinical applications for patients in Scotland.
Key areas for discussion included the use of genome-based testing to support care for patients with cancer and rare genetic disorders, emphasising innovation and collaboration between academia, healthcare specialists, government, and the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
