The Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility provides dedicated facilities and specialist nursing support for a wide range of clinical studies. he Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility (WTCRF) at the Western General Hospital provides dedicated facilities and specialist nursing support for a wide range of clinical studies, including the CGEM led Cystic Fibrosis Gene Therapy trial. The WTCRF Genetics Core is co-directed by CGEM Professors Tim Aitman and David Porteous providing close links and facilitating numerous research and clinical collaborations across CGEM. The WTCRF Genetics Core also provides services externally, and is staffed and equipped to provide secure receipt, processing, archiving and analysis of biological samples. With well-defined Standard Operating Procedures and sophisticated automation the WTCRF Genetics Core offers a high quality and high throughput capability to assist researchers.
