Over 80 researchers joined us on 23rd August, both in-person at the Nucleus Building and online, to hear about a variety of projects making use of single cell approaches and to learn how they can get started with their own projects. The workshop began with an introduction to single cell approaches by Dr Alessandro Brombin (IGC). This was followed by research talks from Dr Kylie Matchett (IRR), Dr Richard Taylor (Roslin) and Dr Catalina Vallejos (IGC) on the use of single cell approaches in a variety of contexts from human liver disease to non-model fish species. Dr Ava Khamseh (Informatics/IGC) then gave a 'breaking news' presentation on Stator, a new single cell analysis tool. The workshop concluded with an overview of the support for single cell projects available at the University of Edinburgh from Dr James Furniss, Genomics Facility Manager at the Genomics Platform.A short networking session followed the meeting, allowing conversation and interaction to continue, and hopefully the seeding of new collaborations. This was the first in a series of workshops and seminars organised by the OHGE ECR Committee – the next will be held in early December (details to be announced at later date). The OHGE ECR Committee members are Shipra Bhatia, Yumali Hewage, Tim Lee, Jess Powell, Natalie Ring, Chloe Stanton, Daniel Toddie-Moore and Lindsay Williams.
